Our Top 5 Places to Eat in Ibiza.

Updated: Sep 23

(In no particular order…. Because they are all our faves)

Okay, this post has nothing to do with cars, save the fact you’re going to need one to get to these places. It’s also “Our Top 5” so you can agree, disagree or whatever floats your boat. In fact, you may find none of these do in fact float your boat, you may have your own favourites and that's cool.  We may have lived here for quite some time but that doesn't mean we’ve visited every cracking restaurant and bar, nor are we the judge and jury.  These are just the restaurants that we go back to again and again.  So if you’re feeling particularly nosey read on, and if you're feeling particularly stalkerish, we’ll see you there! (or not, if you’re doing a decent job of stalking!)

Nassau Beach Club – Beachside Glamour with a Side of Soul

Ok, I said no particular order but really that applies to the other four because Nassau is never going anywhere other than the top of the list. What we love about Nassau Beach is how it lives and breathes everything that is great about Ibiza. If you want to visit one place on this island that when you leave you can truly feel you have experienced Ibiza then Nassau is your place. It is a “complete” experience.  It is joyous, crazy and fun. It has great live music and dancers, it is beach side chill and a nice massage. There’s showers so you can clean the beach off and change before sitting down in the restaurant (if you so wish!) and a magician that goes table to table doing tricks to keep you amused whilst you chill out. (See it’s got everything!)

Nassau is ALL the good vibes, it gives everything that is Ibiza and doesn’t fail to impress. Now top that off with great food and drink and you can see why we spend a LOT of time there. We recommend it to everyone and we take everyone there. Nothing beats sitting watching the world (or a bathtub full of champagne and sparklers) go by with a cold bottle of white and oysters. The teenagers love the burgers and the sushi platters are unbelievably good. I would go so far as to say that it is the best sushi we have eaten on the island. We actually always order a big platter just so we can take the rest home, it is so so good.  Take a look at their Insta to see what we mean, or if you take a nosey at our Insta often enough you’ll see us there and see what we mean!

So don’t waste any more time googling “best beach club in Ibiza”, I’ve answered that one for you.

From beachside glamour to rustic tradition, our next pick couldn’t be more different — but trust me, it’s just as good.

C'as Pagès Ibiza – Rustic Charm and Authentic Flavours

Looking for the best meat restaurant in Ibiza? Ta-dah!

If you’re English and like foodie programs then you may well have seen C’as Pagès featured on James Martin’s Mediterranean, so you’ll know what you’re in for (and it’s all good). If you want me to make it super quick…. Family run restaurant, honest Ibizan food.

Ready for the rest? Okay…

Let’s be clear from the start, if there is a vegetarian or vegan amongst your group, I hope they’re not hungry. This is a meat restaurant. If you’re all “Well, I quite fancy a bit of fish…” you’re in the wrong place, again...this is a meat restaurant. It's ALL about the meat, got it? Good, because quite frankly it is THE best place to go on the island (in our humble opinion).

Trust me when I say every single thing you are going to eat is going to be bang on. The menu is all about tradition. Grilled meats, home cooked stews and their legendary Arroz de Matanza and Sofrit Pagès.  It's this simple, authentic and hearty food that keeps us all going back for more.

We really have eaten everything there is, from the Sofrit to every variety of Steak, to Sobrasada (which I always order a big plate off and weep slightly when it’s finished) and plain old chicken (which is neither plain or old.. obviously).  Absolutely nothing disappoints from start to finish. We have been known to drive there simply to pick up a jar of alioli for the kids as according to them “It’s the best alioli on the island”. So when I say from start to finish, I mean from start to finish.

Aside from the waxing lyrical about the food, the atmosphere is great. In the summer sitting outside in the large “outer area” is relaxing yet vibrant given the fact it is always busy, and the younger kids love it as they can see the chickens in the garden and there are a number of kittens/cats hanging around that are usually up for a stroke! In the winter sitting inside with the fire blazing is deliciously cozy and you are never hurried along to leave, you can just chill, enjoy the food, enjoy the drinks and have a thoroughly great lunch/dinner!

A couple of things to note, I'd always advise turning up when the place opens to ensure you can sit where you want, C’as Pages is very popular for a reason, and regardless of whether it is summer or winter it always gets busy.  No, you cannot book a table, you just have to turn up, and also more importantly you can only pay in cash! I’ll put that in caps so you do not miss it. C’AS PAGES is CASH ONLY! Wouldn’t want to eat all that food and be mortified when it comes to paying would you?

So once you’ve had your fill of grilled meat heaven, where next? Time to hit the beach of course!

Nami – Steak & Sushi in Cala Llonga

A relaxing lunch at Nami Restaurant, Cala Llonga, Ibiza
Enjoy a relaxing lunch at NAMI, Cala Llonga, Ibiza

Nami is everything you want in a beachside restaurant in Ibiza, it’s actually by the beach! No road in between which means no cars; just good food and a glorious view. It’s the sister restaurant of Regina (also in Cala Llonga and absolutely worth a visit), but Nami has its own laid-back beachside vibe. If you’ve got kids, you can actually relax while they run about on the beach in front of you or toddle off to the park for a play. Parent bliss, basically. (See why the whole no road thing was pertinent now eh?)

Now, the important bit: the food is freaking amazing. I’ve never had a dish that’s missed. And yes, I know I said Nassau has the best sushi on the island — but the sushi at Nami is a very, very, very close second. Honestly, I’m torn. It kills me.

We’ve worked our way through it all — steaks, sushi, lamb cutlets (I totally recommend the lamb), fish, salads — and every single thing (I kid you not) has been both beautifully presented and ridiculously delicious. Even the desserts and drinks hit the mark.

What we also love? You can take your sweet time. Nothing makes me twitch more than being given a “sitting” like I’m speed dating my dinner. At Nami, you can just sit back, eat, drink, be merry and soak it all up without the clock watching. (and yes let the kids loose!)

Now I’m looking at what I’ve written thinking “that’s not a whole lot”, but quite frankly there is nothing else to say other than “What are you waiting for? A written invitation?” How many words do I need to spell it out?

Every. Single. Thing. Is. On. Point.

The staff are lovely, the space is beautiful, the location is unbeatable, and the food? Faultless. Honestly, if you manage to have a bad time at Nami, the problem isn’t Nami — it’s you. (Yeah I said it).

Bar Anita’s – San Carlos

Bar Anita's, San Carlos, Ibiza
Don't be fooled by the quaint entrance, it is cavernous inside!

Bar Anita’s is an institution and for that reason alone, you should visit. If you’re looking for plush comfort and fine-dining vibes, this isn’t it. Think wooden tables, slightly uncomfortable chairs, and bags of rustic charm. But honestly, that’s the point. You don’t come here for polished “restauranty” perfection; you come here for the vibe.

Anita’s gets packed on weekends, buzzing with energy, but with opening hours from around 7:30am to 1:00am (ish), there’s plenty of time to get your fix. Just be prepared: the waiters are run ragged and nobody’s going to greet you with a polite “table for two?” routine. If it’s busy, order drinks at the bar and let them know you want a table in the restaurant. Have a glass of something cold while you wait, that’s all part of the experience!

The food? Solid, varied, nothing too fancy, but honestly, at Anita’s the plates are secondary to the people. This is where you meet friends, bump into old ones, and laugh your head off over rustic tapas and homemade drinks. Speaking of which, their house-made limoncello is dangerously drinkable, the strawberry liqueur is divine, and while I’ve not yet braved the hierbas, after over a century of making it, I’m sure it’s the good stuff.

You’ll find Bar Anita’s right in San Carlos, opposite the village church. Ignore the reviews online moaning about “hipsters” and "blah blah" they're utter bollocks (and yes, I can say that, it’s my blog). Anita’s is an eclectic mix of locals, stalwarts, and the occasional tourist. If you’re a normal human and not up your own arse, you’ll love it.

Right, now you’ve had a taste of local life at Anita’s, it’s time to head deeper into the Ibizan countryside and discover where the locals themselves really love to eat

Pou des Lleó – Authentic Ibizan Food & Famous Paella

Restaurante Pou des Lleó, Ibiza
Restaurante Pou des Lleó, Ibiza

I’m nothing if not honest so confession time.  I wasn't going to include this restaurant. Why? Er… because I kinda don’t want you to know about it. And yes, that’s pretty mean but I have included it haven’t I? So I’m honest and nice! That and the guilt was too much.

The secret would soon get out anyway because If you ask the locals on our side of the island (by which I mean Santa Eulalia and the native Catalans) where they go to eat, almost every one of them will say the same thing: Restaurante Pou des Lleó. And honestly, say no more, that’s all the recommendation you will ever need.

This family-run restaurant is open all year round and is tucked away in the countryside, just above the little cove of Cala Pou des Lleó. It is typical Ibizan fare, think Bullit De Peix, Sopa de Marisco, Salmorejo, and yes Paella. Golden, fragrant, and brimming with seafood, it’s the kind of dish people come back for again and again. Personally, I’m not the biggest paella fan, (seriously what sort of nut job wants to pick bits of shell or bone out of their mouth and dance with death?) but their arroz a la banda (a paella-style rice dish cooked in rich fish stock) with all those delicious, crusty edges? I'll happily order it every time.

The atmosphere here is just as good as the food — relaxed, friendly, and genuinely Ibizan. It’s not fancy, it’s not trying too hard, it’s just a place where great cooking and local tradition do all the talking. This place gets busy, especially at the weekend when most of the locals descend on the place. If you arrive a bit early, you can always stroll down to their (yes I said their) little chiringuito on the beach for a pre-lunch drink (in the summer) or take a short walk to work up your appetite, because it is pretty round these parts!

One thing to note: you’ll definitely need a car to get here, as it’s set deep in the countryside. But that’s part of the charm. Pou des Lleó is also a hostal, so if you fall in love with the place (as many do) you can even stay the night.

Incidentally, you can actually eat at the beach bar! They do snacks, burgers, grilled fish etc. It's a small menu but it’s a lovely place. So you know, make a day of it! Arrive in the morning, sunbathe on the beach, have a few cocktails and snacks at the beach bar and then stroll up to the restaurant for dinner later. You’re welcome.

So, there you have it! Our top places to eat in Ibiza.

But if you know us then you know we are all about the eating and finding nice places to go. Perhaps we will let you in on a few of our other ‘best restaurants in Ibiza’ another time!

Happy Eating, or should I say Bon Profit!
